Overview

The Store Communications Specialist functions as the gatekeeper of all communications sent to stores from the Home office team. The Specialist will partner with field, home office business partners, and subject matter experts to develop, write, and maintain store tools and resources. This position will build and manage relationships with all business partners to deliver established short- and long-term projects and initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Develop, manage, and execute store communications and project plans for all store initiatives.
  • Influence how HQ work is communicated and provided to stores by strategizing with partners to create plan of action for implementation and timing
  • Work with Merchandising, Visual, and Pricing execution teams to execute and communicate daily pricing changes
  • Own writing and posting daily communications to the field
  • Craft and tailor communications to different audiences including home office, upper field leadership and store management and non-management functions.
  • Drive accuracy of communication to stores through in-depth business partner interactions that expand knowledge of initiatives
  • Act as the gatekeeper of all information to ensure that all store workload is approved by Store Operations prior to dissemination
  • Advocate for stores by ensuring all corporate initiatives support and align with stores business model and workload
  • Handle communications that require immediate action with accuracy and urgency
  • Build and maintain relationships with all business partners to deliver established short- and long-term projects and initiatives
  • Act as store advocate in all interactions with Home Office business partners and influence how resources/tools show up in stores
  • Educate Home Office business partners about store-related projects, collaborate, align on responsibilities and timelines, and influence partners accountability on project contributions and timelines
  • Solicit and utilize field feedback as appropriate in development of communication, tools, and resources
  • Develop and maintain keeping department documentation accurate and current
  • Take lead in identifying gaps in process or resources and present solutions
  • Own a minimum of three strategic initiatives and lead the implementation, process and outcome to stores

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, communications preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of experience in communications
  • Specialty retail apparel experience preferred

 

Skills and Behaviors:

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including business and technical writing and editing skills
  • Strong listening and negotiating skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of associates and management with limited supervision
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Project, and Adobe Creative suite preferred
  • Knowledge of corporate communications methodology
  • Knowledge of retail stores and business systems and processes
